November 19th, 2008

DAY ONE, 26thOCTOBER 2008,

After three hours in the airplane, finally we arrived at Bali’s airport at 9.30 p.m. when we were at the airport, we had warmed welcomed by the SMA NEGERI 4’s students or FOURSMA student. They were very nice to us. When they meet us, they were very happy to introduce themselves to us.

Then, each of us was taken to our foster parent’s house. Some of our foster parent’s house is near to the school, but some is far away from the school. Some of us take about twenty minutes to our foster parent’s house.

When we were in our foster parent’s house, we were treated nicely and they treated us just like we were their own son. We were very pleased with them and we spent our first night with our foster parents with great joy.

Main buiding of SMA NEGERI 4, Denpasar

When we were in out foster parent’s house, Mr. Shah Riman and Teacher Azliwati were taken to their hotel. Teachers from that school took them from their school until they arrived at the hotel.

DAY TWO, 27TH OCTOBER 2008,

On the next day, we started our day early in the morning with delicious Bali’s exotic breakfast. We really enjoy their food. Then, we went to SMAN 4 from our foster parent’s house. All of us go to school by our partner’s vehicle.

From the school, we were taken by a bus to Bali Bird Park Batubulan, the longest and finest collection of Indonesian birds in the world, plus exotic birds from Africa and South Africa. Within two hectares of botanical landscape, the park provides sanctuary to almost 1000 birds of 250 different species. At there, we learn about Bali’s traditional birds and an original bird from Bali, that is Jalak Bali. We also watched performance from the animal at there too.

Then, we visited Rudana Museum, the place where all the ancients’ art and history of Bali were placed. Here we learn about the magnificent history of Bali. Most of the story in here is about good versus evil and angles versus demon.

Then, we started our journey to Kintamani Mountain, one of the highest mountains at there. In Kintamani Mountain, there is an active volcano situated at there, the scenery is very nice and beautiful. We have our lunch with the Korean student at there while enjoying the beautiful scenery at there. Then, we watch the life of Bali’s people who are living near the mountain.

After going there, we started our journey back to the school. We were so tired along the journey back to the school. Finally, we arrived at the school. Then, we were taken back to our foster parent’s house to take a rest at there.

DAY THREE, 28TH OCTOBER 2008,

On the third day, we went to Bratan Lake. Bratan Lake is located next to Mount Bratan and Mount Catur. It is the second largest lake in Bali. Filling the crater of the inactive volcano Mount Catur, Bratan Lake sits at over 1200 meters above sea level, the important temple of Pura Ulun Danu solemnly guards the lake.

The resort area of Bedugul offer excellent views of the lake, as well as a number of water activities. While in the area hike to the beautiful shrines that dot the lakeshores and forested hills around the lake. We spent most of out day at there.

Then at night, we went to art center to celebrated SMA NEGERI 4 26th years ceremony. At first, we were shocked by their great gamelan performance. It was so harmony and very nice. Then, we enjoyed their dancing performance. In Bali, the most popular Balinese dance is the Prabha Sastra. This dance tell us about the greatness of Dewi Saraswati which the symbol of Education God Manifestation.

Then, the other Balinese dances tell us about the life of ancient life of Bali’s people. Then, it teaches us about the important of fighting evil for the sake of mankind.

The anniversary ceremony totally showed us the student’s commitment in organising this enormous performance and program. They also managed to invite Miss Indonesian and Miss Bali to join the anniversary.

DAY FORTH, 29TH OCTOBER 2008,

On the next day, we started our day with our school uniform because at that day, we will start our class activities with them.

Each of us entered different class with our partners. We learned different subject in different class. In their class just provided one fan for forty students but they are not complaining but they accepted their class as like their class is their own house.

The students gives their full concentration in their class, this shows that they really respected their teachers when learning in their class. They did not do anything that will make their teachers angry. Luckily, the teachers are very nice to us and the other students.

Then, we were invited to watch debate challenge by Foursma’s student in the library, their debate team is really great because they manage to qualify to World School Debating Championship (WSDC) in Washington DC last year. In the year 2009, they will be participating the WSDC competition in Athens, Greece.

After watching their debate performance, we show to them our debate Bahasa Malaysia style. They were so amazed with our debate style and they said that they learn a lot from our debate performance.

Finally, the class activities ended at 12.30 p.m. Then, we were allowed to take a rest in our own foster parent’s house. At there, we take our nice sleep and rest.

DAY FIVE, 30TH OCTOBER 2008,

On the next day, we spent our day in the school. Today, we were given the chance to learn about their fantastic gamelan. Their gamelan is different than Malaysia because it sound is louder and its’ gamelan had more combination of their gamelan instruments.

Then, after tired learning gamelan, we started studying in their class. The students in here were teached to be ready for the IGCSE test (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) a British-based worldwide examination. Although the IGCSE examination is hard, they still motivated to learn even though they still new to the IGCSE system.

In here, we learn that all the students use Cambridge’s books. These books contain all the information that they need for the examination. So, they no need to buy any other extra books because these books are really complete with all the facts that they need.

Finally, this is the end of the day. Each of us returned to our foster parent’s house. In the evening, we enjoyed our day with the family and we learn a lot about their way of life in Bali and Indonesia.

DAY SIX, 31ST OCTOBER 2008,

Finally, this is the end of our journey. We arrived at the airport early at the morning, it is very sad to leave Bali and all the students in Foursma. We really love them as our friends because they are like our own relatives at there. Without them, we cannot survive with the environment at there.

They always guide us along the journey. Last but not least, Bali will be always in our heart. Like Foursma’s motto, stop complaining, start doing, and keep moving!
